DJ Manic – Biography

DJ ManicMichael’s passion for music and natural ability to DJ began long before he was of legal age. As a child, the only place you could find him was analyzing music, mixing and refining his art.  It only took a few club appearances for him to earn his nickname - Manic. The name Manic describes him well because of the way that he DJ’s - Combining a unique blend of skill, ability to read the dance floor and dynamically controlling the energy. His particular taste in music allows him to be different, exciting and on the cutting edge.

Manic begins his set is by playing smooth tracks that have a sexy feel to them.  Playing vocal songs with big bass lines behind them allows Manic to create the vibe for the dance floor.  As the dance floor fills up, Manic speeds up the tempo and kicks it into second gear by playing big piano tracks with catchy melodies and memorable vocal hooks.  The crowd reacts by singing along and dancing as Manic plays these anthems. Once he feels he owns the crowd, he will not let up - reaching into his crates for the big bombs: tribal drums with dirty grooves under them.  The dance floor is full of energy and Manic knows how to make his crowd release all that energy and explode with excitement. With non-stop dancing from beginning to the end, listening to Manic DJ is truly a memorable, musical journey.

In 1997 Manic took his career to the next level. He began producing and remixing music in his home studio, which he has been creating and improving ever since. Manic joined forces with Michael Black (a.k.a- Blackout) in 1998 and they formed Manic Blackout Productions. Blackout’s knowledge of technology and Manic’s creativity and perceptive ear for music made them an ideal team.

Expanding his musical vision even further – he has now joined forces with Producer/Engineer/Composer Alan Scott Plotkin of Virgo Studios. Together, they have developed a state-of-the-art recording studio with cutting edge equipment and a knowledgeable staff. Manic and Alan are currently producing, engineering and re-mixing for a number of artists and record labels. When it comes to the studio, Manic is relentless – putting in many long days and nights-and loving every minute of it.

As co-produced of the song "Never Ending" along with Ronnie Ventura Feat Latrice Verrett, it debuted as hot shot breakout #31 on the Billboard Dance charts. Ten weeks strong on the charts Never Ending climbs to number 25.

Creating, crafting and refining his music everyday, is his drive and his pulse.

Manic still remains close to his performance roots by making regular guest appearances at some of New York’s most prestigious clubs.
